yourspace.com? google does it again
Websites that are not social networks may still want to be social -- and now they can be, easily. With Google Friend Connect (see http://www.google.com/friendconnect following this evening's Campfire One), any website owner can add a snippet of code to his or her site and get social features up and running immediately without programming -- picking and choosing from built-in functionality like user registration, invitations, members gallery, message posting, and reviews, as well as third-party applications built by the OpenSocial developer community.

This is good news. We need someone with the depth of vision Google is known for to save the fickle-nature of the social network market. We can't do Friendster > MySpace > FaceBook > Twitter > FriendFeed forever - we'll never make the leep. The leep to social networks that do more than just connect...networks that accomplish actual things. That needs continuity (friend connect) and single sign-on (OpenID), so I think this announcement is interesting.
Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

It's live now. Looks like an idea I had a while ago of an official internet license. Your e-card if you will. This is going to help their ad model kill off any competition.

He has risen!
nice insight there nords.
other than their attempt (and eventual success) in bringing down other ad competition, do you think they're also trying to un-popularize myspace, facebook and the like? You know, kind being the Nirvana to 80's hair-metal?
