unable to call javascript in a modal window

The situation is as such:
I have a modal window in which i have a flashmovie. I need to call a javascript on that modal window from the flashmovie. It works on firefox3 but not on IE. Any ideas?

I have used window.showModalDialog to open the modal window.

I don't know your movie or movie environment, but here is something about the externalinterface to open a javascript window with problems observed in IE. read the comments.
