    [lilPimp] heartbreaker

So I'm in the process of building a 3D Flash virtual world (which no doubt many of my future posts will be written about) and just to launch the brand and get a few people reading the blog, I have just launched a little branded mini game, you can play it here :

    http://www.iheartland.com/

nothing too clever, just a nice, addictive little game of breakout, but with mochi-score board, some nice Roland 808 drums sound effects and a few little power ups.

Have got another little game for next week too (which should hopefully have some Facebook integration too)

    enjoy

    Chris xx

Very nice simple game! I coulda sworn a few times my ball hit the corner of the boxes but didn't knock em out, anyways besides that only constructive thought I have is that maybe a pause button would be nice. anyways excellent clean looking game!

I would fully believe you as well

Honestly, considering the complexity of some of the games I have made / worked on over the years, if you had asked me "how long for a breakout clone?" I would have, as I did, said "pah! I'll get you it in a day, and still have time left over for Return of the King Director's Cut", but I would have been, and was , wrong. It's actually quite a tricky little thing to get really right, I know it seems so simple (it still does to me), but seeing how I am poor at vector math, and tried to cheat my way around not using it, I actually made life very difficult for myself.

Thanks for the nice words though

Weird, first time I played I got a blank stage. Worked 2nd time. The collision detection for the 'ball' definitely needs to be amended - it passes through the corners of the squares.

    Snap.

You know I really love the look and feel, and now you've got me to admit that in public. Damn you.

I like the style in the game. However, I would consider turning off right-click menu as weird things can happed with using things like rewind, forward and such.

nothing too exciting, another heart appears but each brick takes 2 hits to destroy (and then if anyone can get to level 3 they take 3 hits etc etc)

Thanks for the advice Tony, I always forget about that, will do so today,

The holes in between the blocks makes this breakout game a little more challenging then most. I like the look and feel.

Did want to mention though, that the ball doesn't bounce off the sides of the bat, but instead reacts like it would have hit the bat from above.

    Damn, you noticed.

Yeah I know...and I was going to fix it, but my dog eat my keyboard, and then I was ill and my great Grandmother passed away and...well..I couldn't be bothered. I'm such a perfectionist

A little experiment in distribution, if any of you use iGoogle you can now add heartbreaker to it as a Google Gadget. It was really rather easy to do this, and am very interested to see how many people use it.
