Dynamic vertical thumbnails in scrollpane component

    Hello All,

I'm very new to Flash 8 and can get my head around the simple basics. I've just started using a flipbook component which is very nifty but want to add certain functionality to it. What I really want is a STEP-BY-STEP tutorial to create one of 2 things:

    1. A customisable vertical thumbnail scroller 'menu' showing thumbnails loaded via xml where if a user clicks on the thumbnail, they're taken to a specific page in the flipbook, or
    2. A way of using the scrollpane component that's loaded with thumbnails via xml. I can customise the look by skinning the component.

I'd prefer the second option to be honest as I'm not very good at the drawing side of graphics. I can use the other standard component and skin them to give my project a standard look and feel. I've searched all over but all I can find are tutorials that show how to simply link to a URL and not carry out an 'on (release)' event. Also, instead of simply having a single column of thumbnails, can I make a grid with 2 or even 3 columns?

Also, does anyone have any step by step tutorials on how to create a simple search feature using XML and Flash? The best I've found is at another site but I'm still finding it hard to implement. I'd appreciate anyone who can give simple, step-by-step instructions on how to do these things.

    Thanks.
    I should mention, I'm working with Flash8 and AS2
