No reason to NOT code for desktop now

I've mentioned before...Adobe AIR is the only viable wrapper right now KM users have at their disposal. I've put out Koolmoves source code before that was worked in conjunction with FlexBuilder 3 (which integrates Adobe AIR) but understand the free Adobe AIR SDK and free Flex SDK overwhelmed users. This no longer has to be the case.

Adobe is offering Flexbuilder 3 for free.

Doesn't matter if you understand the interface yet. Simply wrapping a Koolmoves swf loaded into Flexbuilder and exported as AIR opens up a world of options. If you think the two platforms can't be combined for good use, you are cutting yourself short and a free FB3 is hard to beat and a pretty good reason to try out the combo. KM7's new AS3 support makes the combo even sweeter

I just took a look at the Adobe reference (https://freeriatools.adobe.com/learnflex/) linked from the post mentioned above. Looks like you have to be unemployed to get the free tool. But I might have missed something skimming the Adobe page.

    The limitations are rather clear:

I attest that the following statements are true:
    1) I am not currently employed or being paid to develop software applications or web pages
    2) Adobe Flex Builder 3 Software I receive under this program is for my personal use to learn about Adobe Flex and improve my skills
    3) My license to use Flex Builder 3 under this program will not be used for production or commercial purposes, nor will it be transferred to any other person or entity, including to my employer should I become employed.
Do not forget that Flex 3 SDK is free to all with no limitations. I posted this because starting out with Flex using the SDK has a higher learning curve than starting out using the Flex 3 GUI (FlexBuilder 3) and tends to overwhelm new users to the platform. Should you decide to use the free FlexBuilder3 to help you better understand (personally) how Flex/ADobe AIR work and to learn and become familiar with the platform, you could release yourself from any restriction imposed by the free GUI simply by re-applying your new found skills leveraged against the FREE SDK or purchasing a full license (if you end up preferring the GUI over the SDK (which Is .. I'm sure.. what they hope and what most Flex users do prefer IMO)).

This cup is not half empty...it's half full
