PNGs painfully slow to work with?

i have a variety of png icons that I have brought into my project, and every time I click on one on the stage to work with it, Flash hangs for like 30 seconds.

They are not big files, maybe 200x200 pixs, with essentially a black and white alpha, no fancy high falutin gradiented alpha or anything?

Is there something I can do to fix this? It's pretty frustrating.

Short of a solution, do other people have this issue?

To clarify, when I first click on the png on the stage, Flash sits there for 30 secs, then shows the png as selected, with the kind of grayed dots through it.

The pngs live in a movie clip. If I click the containing MC and move it around it responds fine. But if I open up the MC and click on the actual png my buddy the 30 sec waste of my time is back.

This is 2010, 30 seconds x 100 clicks = I lost my job to some young punk fresh out school with twice my talent.

    What version of Flash?
What is the file size of the .png which you imported to the Library... it was imported to the Library, correct?
Post a link to the image and let us see if we have a problem.

Nope!... something is definitely wrong. PNG files should load fast, specially that size. Just start troubleshooting it the regular "divide and conquer" or process of elimination.

And sorry to hear about your job loss man,....
