I'm not afraid
Has this actually ever happened? It's just one of those "Can you imagine?!"
things you think about now and again. Forbes latest "Richest Americans"
list has Bill Gates at 60 BILLION. So applying general rules of ratio
comparison, Bill giving a sum of $1,000,000 to someone could be
compared to an average income couple ($60,000) giving $1.00.
Then, given that the couple puts the $1,000,000 in a interest collecting
fund that they can collect yearly (at say 5%) they would make
$50,000/year just from interest. Amazing!
Just another useless fact.

i was thinking about that when the ms stock plunged. i asked why does he risk it? if he put all his money into a bank account he would make so much money its amazing. then again, hes probably a greedy person like the rest of em

it sound's great to have 60 Billion. But i can assure you, hed be happier with his 60,000 a year. Imagin the hastles of having that much. Every man and their dog wants a piece.
He'd cry sometimes having so mnuch money. Ther eis NO WAY that he could spend that in a lifetime.
maybe i can genarate a picture of Bill gates that looks like Dr-Evil, mwhahaha 100 BILLION Dollars !

Essentially, he's like everyone else, If you earn 50k a year, you could always do with an extra 5k. I think 60bn is a scary amount of money. It's double the GNP of Nigeria. Think what he could do for poverty etc if he wasn't such an arse.

too right, all this cash he has floating around could and should be put to more worthwhile causes, rather than being the richest chippie on the planet

on the subject of money, i have here a few american notes and cannot see anything stopping someone from scanning and copying the note, without it being noticed or have anything like the british notes have (the watermark and threaded gold tape) that will pick out forgeries.....

Actually
From what I have heard, Bill Gates is quite the charitable fellow! Think about it. He could probably donate an unbeiveable sum daily to charities - and stil make money!
As for the stock, well duh - if he sells it - he loses a stake in the ownership of his company! It's not like he needs to make money - and chances are he's severely restricted as to how much he can cash-out by the FED an such. It not like he can say - "Gimmie all of it!"

bwahahaha see thats where the beauty is. For one thing, if you look at the bills under a microscope, its made of a special type of paper that's threads are red and blue. There's only one place in the world that makes that type of paper. There is also an algorithm, that goes into the unique numbering of each bill, so a photocopy would have duplicate numbers, which would eventually be figured out by the government and their tracking system. also on the new bills (you most likely do not have one of those), there is a silhouette of george washington inside the bill of you hold it up into the light.

I'm no fan of Bill Gates, but give the guy his due:
Bill Gates contributes $1 billion to charity "Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and his wife are donating $1 billion over the next 20 years to finance college scholarships for minority students"
Bill Gates' charity becomes second largest in the world "Microsoft founder Bill Gates will donate an additional $6 billion to fund research into developing new vaccines for diseases that disproportionately affect the developing world"
Gates donates $5B to Gates charity "Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, have donated $5 billion in Microsoft Corp. stock to charity -- the largest gift ever given by living donors to a philanthropic group."
A summary of Gates' charitable donations "Before he began giving money away, people complained that he was a miser. Now that he is giving money away, they complain that he’s doing it too late, that he isn’t giving enough, that he hasn’t a clue about what he’s getting into, that the projects he is financing are too conservative, too liberal, too big, too small, too safe, too risky, too conventional, too splashy"
It doesn't really stand up to logic, but to use your own analogy Gates' donating $6billion is like a normal person donating $6,000 (if they earn $60,000, and gates is worth $60bn). And that's a pretty hefty charitable contribution...
