You should let us host a version of the fractal program here, and have it so that it generates swf files using swift generator

Now that would be cool dude!!!

Nah, the only feature that goes thru my brain is a save function (bitmap or postscript).

The main problem of the tool is, Flash needs very long to draw all the lines, so if you want to take screenshots with a higher resolution (rightclick zoom), Flash has to redraw the hole thing again and you have to wait again.

So if I can find a way to export a postscript or illustrator/freehand file, that would be perfect.

Btw, take the swf out of the cache and open it fullscreen in the player for best results and the Mac player makes a way sharper antialiasing then the PC player.

    Very nice flyer art, subway!

With a little tweaking I think your Fractal-Art machine thingy, whatever, doesn't have to redraw all lines when you zoom in. But thats still one hell of a good prog!

    Looks cool!

Yes. That's why it is at my site and not only on my hard drive. (Credits would be nice)

    "Fractal Art Machine" sounds good.

A little tweaking would not help cause it's not the calculation of the lines that creates the big wait, it's just the draw of the >10'000 lines that creates the "world wide wait". The calculation of the lines needs only a few seconds.

Maybe a C++ prog that uses the math behind the effect would make it faster - maybe.

Yeah... a c++ would probably be faster. It's amazing what you did with flash already. Is outputting to a bitmap even possible with flash? hmm...

well... if you do create any other versions and need a beta tester.. i'm here subway!!!!

(ps... i would absolutely give you credit.. this prog rules!)

No, but I see two possibilities:

    1. Save a variable (FS-command "save") with the postscript tags to a text file and delete the variable name in an hex editor.

    2. Write a server app that does the things at point 1

Both not perfect ways and I don't have any postscript knowledge.

It's a programming language like HTML but for print outputs, similar like Illustrator or Freehand files.

    Subway,

    Two requests:

    1) Please don't let your awesome program fall in to the arena of a "design whore" by releasing it for every hack to use in their creations. I think it's a great tool, and makes wonderful designs... I can just see it becoming a little "trend" on alot of newbie sites. Perhaps you can package and sell it for a small fee or something, I don't know. At least just leave it on your own server, and not have it exploited on others.

    2) Is there any way to change the colors of the lines in your "fractal machine"?

    Congrats on a wonderful tool.

    Jabez

There are different colored shapes (down/right)

For the other idea: The actual version is for free use and everyone can use it at their site if they give me full credits. But if I ever do a version with save function (for higher resolutions), then I will make it shareware.

So if someone have some very good knowledge in C++ and/or postscript and want to help me with this, just contact me.

A photoshop plugin would be perfect

OK... how about ONE other suggestion? Ability to change the background to different colors? I.e. white, gray, etc.

Ability to change it with a hexcode or RGB would be awesome!
