Wrestlers floored in fight over WWF

LONDON, Aug 10 (AFP) - Professional wrestling was dealt a major blow Friday when a judge at London's High Court ruled that conservationists have the rights to the initials WWF.
Justice Peter Jacobs ruled that the World Wrestling Federation must stop using the initials, which rightly belong to the World Wide Fund for Nature.
He granted the conservation group an injunction that leaves the federation facing a 35-million-pound (49-million-dollar) rebranding operation on top of costs and damages that could run into further millions.
Following the ruling, the federation immediately announced it would appeal against the judge's decision.
Both organisations have been using the letters in their logos and say the initials WWF are part of their brand identification.
Jacobs agreed Friday that the US-based federation had breached an agreement signed in 1994 limiting its use of WWF.
He ruled that the fund was right to claim that the use of the letters by the wrestling federation could damage its ability to raise money for nature conservation.
The World Wide Fund for Nature has used to logos since it was formed as the World Wildlife Fund in 1961.
The injunction will come into effect on October 1, subject to appeal. It will prevent the federation from using the initials anywhere except in the United States, where it will be able to refer to itself orally as WWF and to advertise and market sporting events as WWF.

Wonder what they're gonna call em now?
