Sixth Annual 48 Hour Flashkit Competition BEGINS!

Quick Note: In case you missed the brief summary and a lil’ history lesson, Click Here!

********Sixth Annual 48 Hour Flashkit Competition******************

Well well well….The Sixth 48 Hour Flashkiterino Competition. Hoorah! I know some of you are probably disappointed that you can’t compete this year, but that’s what unfortunately happens every year. It's hard to please everyone. Also, it’s tough to get people to dedicate 48 hours of their lives to compete in a competition with no tangible prize(if you’re new to the competition, pretend you didn’t here that… hehe). Well actually, that’s not entirely true…Since as the tradition goes the prize is PRIDE and………………………..

    A HALF EATEN TUNA SANDWICH
(to previous contest winners….yeah I know… your sandwiches will be in the mail soon..I’m still working on them OK!?)

Sorry for that little digression. Back to what I was saying before, this competition is more like a novelty than anything. Compared to other ones that offer the big bucks(but no food), this one is pretty low key and isn’t hosted that professionally. Oh well, it’s fun fun fun. Yeah yeah, I know…you want to know the topic. Well, you see I can’t just tell it to you like that. I sorta need to explain where I got the topic from...

First of all, I wanted to create a topic that was similar to previous topics but that wastn’t too broad (like the Business Throughout the Ages one). I was a bit stumped on this…so I decided to look into the world of video games for answers!

So I needed a way to talk to video games…so I decided to turn myself into an 8-bit warrior.

I then set off on my quest, asking video games about topics.

I was really disappointed… No one had good ideas! Until I travelled to Hyrule!

Bok bok bok? As in chicken language? What does it mean… Well I consulted my dictionary

And found out that bok bok bok means: “me and strings”. Me and strings? Me as in chicken? So Chicken and Strings? Chickens……..and…..strings…chickens…… …..CHICKENS AND STRINGS!?!?!

That’s IT!! That’s IT!!! The topic! CHICKENS AND STRINGS!

    ****END OF POINTLESS STORY****

Ooof, sorry about that. People who know me will recognize the fact that I hardly make any sense..so please forgive me for that little tale. Also forgive me if you hate the topic, but I think that it is quite interesting and can sure make for weird games.

So what now? Well STARTING AS OF NOW, Friday 15th 2006, you have 48 Hours to make a game involving Chickens and Strings. Before 5:00 pm EASTERN, 10:00 pm GMT on Sunday 17th 2006, all submissions must be entered. How do you submit?
Well there will be a new thread called Sixth Annual Flashkit Competition ENTRIES. All you have to do is post the link of your game in that thread. When the time is up, a new thread called Sixth Annual Flashkit Competition VOTING will be made. It will explain the voting process, and will contain a list of all entries.

Remember, these are the categories you will be judged in:

    -Best Art

    -Most Fun

    -Most hard work

    -Most original

    -All around goodness

But wait! There’s more! This year, there is a new category that is being introduced! No, it’s not smelliest .swf, but rather Most Potential Award. That’s right, people will be able to vote on which game, given more time to be developed, would have the most potential to be the best. More about this topic will be posted in the voting thread.

Now before worrying about voting, let’s start worrying about starting! So keep in mind that your game should be fun and original! Think about it! Strings and Chickens. What’s a string? What’s a chicken?(well maybe that one’s obvious). Come up with insane ideas! Come up with cool stuff that will make everyone lose their shoes in excitement(however that happens). Remember that everyone in the end is a winner! Hopefully you can participate! Good luck, and you have till Sunday the 17th 5:00 PM EASTERN, 10:00 PM GMT to have a game submitted. Check out Time Zone Converter to find out what time that corresponds to in your area.

    GOOD LUCK!

    -Mr.

P.S=> Thanks to everfornever for the image hosting! I tried your site and it works like a charm.
