Can flash do this? Interactive floor plan with DB driven status messages.
Hi! This is my first thread on Flashkit and I hope I do things right. I've tried to seek information about my questions here, but have a hard time to find it. Hopefully you can help me.
As a school project we are creating a software which we are going to sell to clients. We are going to outsource the thing, and we just create the "plan" behind the hole thing. This is our idea.
Create an interacvie floor plan with status messages, for office use. This should be presented on a screen near big office facilities to guide newcommers to the correct office. In addition we would like the office map to show if the office employee are available/busy.
We will divide the hole thing into three sectors.
1. Status client(where the office employee sets his status)
2. Server(handles the requests from the status client)
3. Screen client(shows the floormap with a green or red color over the office, to show available or busy.
I've attached a little picture for you to better understand.
We would like to create the hole thing in flash, but as none of us are developers we will need to seek some advice.
We have the following "issues".
The screen client will need to get the db data for the status of the status client. Then it should present the status as a green or red overlay on the floor plan.
The status will need to be "fresh", so it needs to be updated every 10s or so.

I hope you can help me!
Kind regards
