onkeypress <Backspace>

the other day i started to try to build yugop keyboard from his past site. the problem is that when ever i try to allow the user to press the backspace key to remove the last object typed it will only work if you use shift then the backspace key. i just want to use the backspace key wothout hitting ****. any ideas?
