Just go to the site and download the font. Once you do that read the instructions that come with it.
1. Make sure your text is not centered.
2. READ the instructions.
3. As Monkeypants pointed out it is good to change the x (location) by nudging the x (location) by .5, .15, .3, etc, etc, ... (Sometimes a font of size 8 is to small for your readers.)
You can always make a transparent gif of your text. This always renders your text crisp. The text of my scroller uses a transparent gif with a font size 10. You cannot do this (have a font size 10) with a bitmap font.

Sorry... I missed the part of your tutorial post about text being a gif. I have a large amount of text so it may not be an option for me. I dont know how you got a large text block as gif down to 10K...I guess it was the transparency.
I am using the Kroeger font off minimal and it doesnt matter what I do it looks worse than any other fonts I have.
I type text then align left then on transform panel I set the X position to every different pixel positon possible and it never works....Oh well back to the drawing board.
Thanks for your help.

Here is an example with several of the miniml fonrs, and one other bitmap font - http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/fonts.html and the swi is at http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/fonts.swi
In all cases I have set the registration point of the font at the upper left, and set it at x=40 and y=integer. I think that the Kroeger is the least successful of the group. All are at 8 point despite the size variation.
I have had less success getting nudging to improve things.
Cheers,
Flick

The miniml site relates to standard 07_51, 53 & 55 but no 54. Typo? 53 looks very similar.

This one is 54, but I noticed there was no 54 when I revisited the miniml site yesterday. The ones I have are 53, 54, 56, 58, 65 and 66. It looks as if he has changed some of the offerings over the past few months as I also have versions of one of the other ones that was no longer there. I agree 53 looks very similar.

I thought 54 was very clear. I'll play with 53 and if I need 54 I'll give you a shout. [Send me an email, when you have time, about the navworks stuff.]

You gave the same link for both the swi and html/swf. No link to the swi. Yea Kroeger is not so hot. I want to use standard. I will work on using standard today.

Sorry about the link. I just edited my post to correct it - just change html to swi. As I said I have not played much with nudging the registration point, so that might help Kroeger, but Standard seems fine for my needs.

Standard 07_65 used on larrikinism.com on the footer.
Can you direct me to any informative material on these fonts Flick? There is scattered material on font forum.

Unfortunately all I know is what I have gathered from scanning the font forum, the text file that comes with the zipped fonts, and what is on the miniml site - my impression is that there used to be more information on the site, but it does seem to have been redone, or I missed it.
Cheers,
Flick
