The way I see it Flashkit is first and foremost a forum for Flash Developers to build on and share their knowledge.

There are a number of members who do not move from the Lounge and it could therefor be argued that they do not add anything to the community. Conversely there are a number of members who would never enter the Lounge, prefferring to strut their stuff in the help forums.

The lounge is here, in the main, to give releif from the working day to those of us who actiually work for a living and to build on the sense of community. What I have seen on these boards over the past couple of days does not add to the Flashkit community. Attacking and bullying members with personal insults for their point of view, nationality or religion is reprehensible.

I'm all for rational debate, I may not agree with other members opinions but I won't resort to petulant name calling (except in Jezza's case) and I expect those who do not agree with my points of view to offer me the same courtesy.

Exactly! And CNO(A Moderator) did exactly what is prohibited by flashkit rules.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

Calling people pests and trolls doesn't violate this?

I think you are being a little harsh. it was intended as light hearted fun, there was no malice which there has been in some of the comments here recently.

Thats great stuff. Very funny and informational .

Rune, if you really want to be like that, please leave the boards. Come back at a better time when you can debate without arguing thanks.

If you don't stop this nonsence you will end up banned, and no one likes being banned.

We've been making fun of Jezza for a while now...we know, and he knows that it is all fun. may of the posts in the past few days were actual flames, derogatory posts, and other types of unwanted behavior. Look at the Tommy/Jezza thread...they're making fun of each other, when in fact, they are flatmates . There is a line betwen flaming and light hearted humor, and don't cross it.

Debate and argument are not mutually exclusive. You are thinking that argument has a negative connotation and you are wrong.

Sorry to break the news to you but anyone that reads what is in that link after being called a troll would become very upset.

I think I have demonstrated great restraint in my replies. His/her conduct breaks the rules that he/she purports to uphold.

Yup, and the examples that you have supplied are between friends that know each other and have known each other, and in human interaction there is a place for this type of behavior, however I do not know who CNO is and he/she does not know me, his/her humor was misplaced and should have been directed at one of his/her buddies and not someone he knows nothing about.

I wasn't going to post again for past experience in undarstanding that it would add fuel to the fire. But I would like to point out that I didn't single anyone out in my post - it was in fact a response to Steve's re-listing the rules and an attempt to interject a bit of levity into the situation. As has been pointed out, there is a great deal of camaraderie which exists between the mods, admins, and I'd like to think the members as well.

As a moderator I prefer to spend my time helping out in the board, but I will take the time to say that a lot of people in the past have felt "opressed" by Flashkit's moderating and have left the boards (I hope to move on to "better" things), and the community has not suffered because of it.

I hope that we can foster a sense of community here and compromise on certain things, but when it comes to the rules which have been established we are unbending. If you feel you have been singled out for whatever reason, then fine. But to carry on about it like this is a bit rediculous.

The community suffers because members are punsihed while moderators are allowed to break the rules. If you cannot see this then you are blinded by your own power.

You are unbending of your applications of the rules? Really? Unbending when it comes to normal users, but moderators are allowed to side-step them.

When you say it was a joke. It was a joke for you and your little support group of mods, but its not a joke cuz you don't know me and I don't know you. You made an ignorant assumption and you are severly at fault for this. Read my reply to kb1827. Now imagine someone that you don't know calling you a troll and then reading that link that was supplied. Your response would not be light.

The argument is not "ridiculous" as you say it. I have recieved a great deal of email that supports what I am saying to you. The only problem is, those people are afraid of posting their objections towards the Mods collective behavior for fear of being banned and or deleted. So the evidence shows I am not alone in my disagreement with you.

I am now permanently leaving these boards, not becasue I feel pressured to do so, or out of fear of anyone here, but because I do not want to take part in a community that is as hypocritical as flashkit is.

    Practice what you preach!!!!!!!

Flashkit happens to be a very tight and open community. I think that you might be lying about any e-mails you may have recieved about this thread or the whole "mods abusing power" in general.
Any one who agrees should and most likely will come forth and say it. There is no punishment for stating your feeling toward a subject as long as you are not being harsh or profane. Therefore, there is no reason someone would hide thier feelings.

There has been many instances, much larger than this, of large groups of people disagreeing with 1 or many mods, but there is always a reason for the actions of the mods. They are qualified and respected people by not only the entire community but the Flash Kit Admins as well. Every action the mods take is backed by the admins (who run this whole thing) and normally most of the community.

If you or anyone else disagrees with the mods, thats fine, talk about it, get over it. But if it just results in more harsh posts targeting the mods, then it will not hurt us in the least to see you go. Sorry.

I thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce everyone to my newest and greatest invention, Troll-B-Gone!

Just one spray will get rid of the most resilient pests and worst rectal ailments (pains in the posterior, in layman's terms). Moderators of a variety of boards will be recieving a complimentary bottle, of course!

In an even more exciting development, I have been working with the same company to develop another product called Perma-ban which is bound to revolutionize the way we deal with the tough duties of moderating those who just don't want to obey the rules.

    Operators are standing by!
Be careful where you spray that thing, it could get in someones eye!

Rune, I have seen your kind before and I think everyone, especially yourself, would be happier if you just cool off and realise that the mods are people just like you. At present, I don't think you have actually listened to anything anyone has said other than to look for ways to pick it apart, as such I don't plan on spending too much time with this reply. This is the jist of it:

Getting your thread deleted seemed to either hurt your feelings, or make you feel your rights have been violated. I assure you that regardless of the specific reason your thread was deleted, it was not to hurt your feelings or threaten your rights, instead it was to help the board as a whole. The lounge mods devote a lot of time and energy to keeping this place running smoothly, and do a very good job of keeping their emotions in check when someone attacks them, as such it annoys and angers a lot of the other members (mods included) to see aria, david p, or one of the others get yelled at for doing their job. This, and this alone, is why you have recieved a harsh response to your arguments. I hope you can step back and try to see the situation from the mod or admin's perspective, because we would love you to stay and become a part of the community. If you can't, than I am sorry to say that I don't think any one will be able to help you with your problem, to do so would mean punishing an innocent person (who dosen't get enough praise as it is), and hurting the community, which I hope would never happen.

    I hope it helps

P.S. - you will have to forgive me for any horrendous spelling or grammer mistakes, it is late and I am tired .
