    Red face

Ok, for some this may be new and others may have seen it, but I just stumbled across 2 instances of something that I thought was pretty much amazing.
    http://www.protocol7.com and http://www.microbians.com
They both implement it a bit differently but I am just amazed by the effect. The reason I am posting this here is because I want to hear what people think about this and where it will take flash good and bad. I can see both. What do you all think??? -Jason

    Cool

The protocol7 one was very creative and well done. The other one took to long to load and so I said bye-bye to it. If it was creative like the first one then it gets my vote.

    Hello all

Although I am interested in learning this and I would really like to see that tutorial. I brought up the topic because I feel that this application can have some far reaching effects as the web goes. Think of frameless stock tickers or a virtual pet who could play in the corner of your screen all day long and be updated live all through your web connection. I see alot of possiblities that could arise here!! I also see easy ways for people to lock images onto peoples screens, I admit that this is already done when people open their sites full screen ( which I strongly feel should be offered as an option ) but if people exploit this then many unknowing users could easily be have an image locked onto their desktop. I have taught a number of classes for Purdue University introducing people to the web and thier computers and the vast majority of these users would not have any idea how to approach something like this. These are my thoughts on the subject, good and bad.

This is rather interesting...a window without a border. It looks a little different, but usability is still my major concern.

It's still a pop-up window without the browser controls. It's like all these new plastic trash bags with built-in twist-ties and tie-handles and such---geez! I don't want a learning curve just to take out the trash, just give me a bag!

This trick is still a rude method of wresting away my control of what I'm viewing on the web, even though it's easy to close and/or ignore. I agree with whomever mentioned that visitors should be warned before springing stuff like this on them. I can see how a number of these frame-less "panes" could populate your desktop and use up processor power while the user overlooked them, until he noticed his machine was slowing down and started looking for open applications. Surprise! 15 "pains" camoflaged on your desktop as "cool" adverts or stealth junk-mail. I don't need it, I don't want it.

If you do the kindness of warning me first, and let me know your site will use this kind of interface, it could be an interesting and entertaining experience for me.

Surprises from my web browser I see as the equivalent of home invasion--->> my first response is 'shoot to kill' the offender.

    WOW
tho i agree they should warn you first cause regular user won't understand what happend.
i chacked it in my netscape too, but the borders were there, so it's an explorer effect only.
