Paul Burnett is one of the amazing speakers we have lined up for the Flash Kit Singapore 2001 conference. An employee of Macromedia, Asia/Pacific branch, he will be speaking about speeding up the authoring process in Flash by using and creating SmartClips, controller clips, external code and generator objects. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn some great tips and techniques from an experienced presenter.

We are giving you the chance to post any questions that you may have about this session, or anything else you might want a God of Flash to answer for you. Paul will be checking the site regularly to post replies to questions, so if you have any questions at all for him, just post them here!

Check out his profile at: http://www.flashkit.com/fk01/singapo...lburnett.shtml

Hopefully one of the locals will give us that low down befoore we get there.

I have one real question for you:
What's the latest on your FlashAmp tool?
Any new features/releases on the way?

In case anyone hasn't seen FlashAmp it's at:

FlashAmp 1.0 is available at the moment. We are planning a new version next year which will allow for amplitude lists for a number of frequency ranges. We are also working on a number of SmartClips to make working with FlashAmp a little easier, however they will still use the same engine ie version 1. The new SmartClips will be freely available to registered users.

So if you are working with lip synching or animations reacting to audio, download a demo version of FlashAmp and try it out or better still buy it for US$25.

(By the way FlashAmp is a product produced by my company MAD and Mark Martin's company Marmalade Media... it is not a product from Macromedia... I work part time for Macromedia and part time for MAD... does that make sense?)

Have you got any examples of lip synching done with FlashAmp that we can have a look at Paul?

    G'day Jezza
Yup, there are a few simple examples at http://www.marmalademedia.com.au/fla...p_examples.htm

One is a simple mouth, the second uses 2 people but only one sound track (so FlashAmp uses cue points in the audio file to decide who's talking) and the 3rd is some very simple animations reacting to the audio's amplitude.

    Hey Bruno
If you go to the color mixer and select or mix a color you can also set its alpha. Once you have done this go to the mixer pallette's tab and select 'Add Swatch". That new color is now available in your swatches complete with transparency.

    Hope this helps...

Maybe it is becouse of my english (not too good) and I was putting the wrong keywords... I´ve serched for "flash 5 color alpha" and I can tell you I didn´t find anything...

thanks again and sorry for asking stupid questions...

    G'day Bruno
I think I was a bit harsh, and it wasn't aimed at you. I just did a search for the color alpha in the manual and its not that easy to find... hmm.

Anyway, feel free to ask more questions... after a quick skim throught the manual ;-)

Try searching for "preloader" in the Flash Kit tutorial section, we have some great tutorials on this subject that I'm sure will help you out.

    Hey there
Not a bad question, but what is it you are trying to do? Preload all or some of a swf before it starts to play, or preloading external swfs? Each involves different steps. Let me know and I'll give some examples.
