The Autorun.inf file must be located at the root level of the CD. However, the data in the file, doesn't necessarily have to be. You could create a data folder and use the following as well.

[autorun]
start=data/projector.exe
icon=data/someicon.ico

This just keeps things a bit more tidy at times .
