I have to design a logo and have no inspiration (I have already designed 30 or so and the client just doesn't know what they want!), can anyone suggest sites with tons of logos I can look at?
I have looked through all the logos on coolhomepages.

do they know if they want it text or graphic based?
do they know what colors they want?
do they know what it is to be used for?
    what does the company do?
have any of them seen logos that attract them?
do they only share a brain?,
or do they each have their own individual small one?

    logos

http://www.logotypes.ru is a good place for logos, for looking and download in vector format. You already mentioned coolhomepages'.. other than that i'd just run a search for companies that make logos and see if they have examples.

to be used for website, newsletters, brochures etc.
    its for an affiliate program
    no
they appear to share (but only one person can use the brain at the time... and the one using the brain for the day is inevitably unavailable)
... they havent even given me a brief. When I asked them for even a vague direction in which to go I was told "just go off at a tangent"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do they think I have been doing all along?!?

have you told them about the 'concept development' portion of their invoice and the 50% start-up payment?

They sound like a bunch of fools.
"just going off at a tangent" costs more, like one to two hours for each rejected logo.
Tell them you need a brief that includes preferred color/s, printing requirements (eg, will it need to be used as a background on brochures or forms?
Will it need to be faxable, photocopyable, recognisable if it is sprayed by a skywriter, recognisable at 2mm high or 20 metres high, recognisable if formed by fire, balloons, lightbulbs, budgies glued to walls, painted on airplanes or trucks bonnets. Make them think before you do any more.
Should it be pointy and sharp(aggressive) or curved and soft (friendly, passive)?
Just tell them that you don't have sufficient information to do what they want, in fact, you don't know what they want.
Damn, If I were you and could, I would just ditch them, they have probably already cost you more than you will earn from doing this logo.

U really have to make sure what the client wants. (Not ur fault) U could produce millions of brilliant logos but if the client doesnt know what he wants - its a waste of time.
A few clients Ive had r similar, they're just a waste of ur time really.

Thats the really funny part... I cant just ditch them. This is for a company I work for full time, not a freelance job. Of course my employers dont understand (and dont care) what I need from the client. They just think I am being difficult (when I ask for a brief)

i´d paint a big penis with a livesaver around it

    - no just kidding, i´d keep it just simple, the best is to look at the "big ones" like huge companys, simple logo
but you remember it (besides sony-erricson, this is quite unique)

afterwards think about what those clients do, related to computers the logo might be a little more edgy, related to buildings a house might be cool, or just a letter and
some nice lines - keep it simple
