I really dislike the IE6 I downloaded. It doesnot support some of the plugins I use. I looked around for an old link to a IE5.5 site but could find nothing. But I want to get back to that version. Is this possible?

I am asuming that you have Win 98,2000, NT, or ME. If you do then MSIE should be located on the CD with the install.
they can also be downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...ve/default.asp
You may need to Uninstal MSIE 6 from Windows as I have noticed that it won't always allow you to install a lower version over a higher version of MSIE. If you have Win 9X, ME, or 2000 SP 1 you can do this with 98 lite or IEradicate from http://www.98lite.net .

You are supposed to be able to remove IE6 in Add/Remove Programs and it theoretically restores your previous version...but it probably doesnt always work that way.

If you have IE 6 installed, it will not let you install a lower version. Also if you uninstall IE, you will not be able to restart your computer. IE is integrated with the operating syatem, and you will end up re-installing the whole operating system. I have seen this happening to a friend of mine. So be careful since you bought a new computer

Nope, you can restart without IE with 95, 95 B, 98, 98 SE, NT 4.0 and ME if it is removed with IEradicator as it only removes the unembeded portions but leaves the embedded parts, like the HTML rendering engine, alone. I did it today on all those platforms. What you can't do is download anything unless you have an alternate Browser so if you don't have an alternate browser download K-Meleon so that you can still download MSIE or Netscape if you want.
