    jstarkey,

I appreciate you've only just started and you probably don't have much control over the advertising side of things. Its not my intention to blame you for anything, I just want people to be aware of what has happened to FlashKit over the past year, and what may continue to happen in the future.

Its in everybody's interest that FlashKit makes money, and remains the centre of the Flash community. I've thought about moving the SWiSH boards to our own site, but the FK board is still a great community, and I'm sure a few Flashers discover SWiSH boards by us sharing the same site.

I'm willing to open my wallet and spend some advertising $$$ here, but it has to be realisitically priced.

    Cheers, David.

So ... we gonna let these guys off the hot seat for a few and let them do a little lounge socializing - give ourselves a chance to get to know these guys we're so quick to judge???

    Welcome to Flashkit guys.

These guys have just started and are already working super hard. Conversely, I think it's a testament to the community that people are so passionate about what they like and dislike and express it not to haze the new guy, but just because we all love this place.

Remember - there's a feedback forum - certainly all of the world's woes can't be solved in a day. You guys should sleep in tomorrow.

    wow,
this thread has certainly drifted way off topic. No wonder the original poster has not bothered to return.
Not much point debating with the maintenance guys in the basement really as far as I can see, they work within boundaries we have no idea about.

    Mr. Starkey:

    to quote you:

"There are a lot of younger folks here, who contribute a lot, but aren't able to afford a monthly. "

These folks aren't interested, or OLD ENOUGH to be purchasing liquor or hitting the casino's either.

But, it all stems down to territory here I think.

I've been kicking around here for a while, a long while... much, much too long.

But, it's always sort of felt that the people who post here, have a say here. Mark was always open to new possibilities, folks were asking for new forums, news, tuts - all that, and it was taken into consideration. We knew Mark, we knew the mods - everything was cool. Maybe that's the problem.

It feels like a huge faceless conglomerate running the show now. These ads, all the un-necessary links, the news without importance - it feels like Flashkit, or at least "our" Flashkit might be disappearing.

I realize this is a fear without validation, but I think I can speak for a lot of folks around here, when I say the general consensus is fear.

So, until the smoke clears, "get out of my backyard" is going to be shouted from the tops of the mountains.

Take it - you don't need to like it, but take it. That's probably the best option.

But Flashkit has changed, and trying to justify a casino ad isn't going to make anyone happy - it will only fuel fires.

One gripe I have with the ads is that they open in the _parent window instaed of in a new one...if I click on the hier menu one for example, I want to be able to still stay on the same thread that I was in...shouldn't be too hard but would make life alot easier.
