Thread: 'object expected' error in IE6

  1. #1
on a large amount of pages i go to a get an icon in the bottom left part of the IE screen like the one next to the subject of this thread (an exclamation point in a yellow triangle thing). I click the icon, and it shows me this "object expected on line ...." error. This error stops certain things from being displayed on the page; certain windows can't be opened, and certain windows won't pop up (which leads me to believe this is a java-related problem.) For a screenshot go here note the boxed text. Why am i getting this error? And can it be fixed?

What is the javascript code that you are using? It's usually something simple that's wrong but it could also be the add popups interfering with your code

its not one of my sites, just sites i go to in general that have pop up windows. For instance, when i go to sites the require flash, and then if you have flash, a new window will open--it won't work for me. I get that error shown in the screenshot, with the appropiate site name in the box.

If it's not your code don't worry about it, someone goofed, it happens all the time. I know I've done it and people write me and say your site's not working. If you don't like the error messages just turn them off and unclick the always display this message box

i know, but i go to a lot of web sites that require these "javascript pop up windows" and they don't work. I believe this problem relates to IE6 itself, any suggestions?
