holding puncuation

I'm importing an external text file into a dynamic scrolling field. What I'm doing is saving a word file in simple text and calling it up as a variable in my flash doc. Runs fine put the imported text doesn't hold the puncation (ie, the apostrophes come up funky type). Any way around this without going back in and manually changing each puncuation mark. The text block is rather long.

instead of .doc, make it .txt. it should work.
