Hey everyone. As you've no doubt noticed, the stage space in Flash MX has gotten pretty damn small! I find it difficult to work in MX at my regular resolution of 1024 X 768, but find it looks just right on my 19 inch moniter at 1280 X 1024. The only problem is I don't like to leave my moniter at that high a resolution while browsing the web, typing in Word, etc (text is a little too small for my taste, and a whole bunch of sites just look like crap at that huge a resolution).

So, my question is (and I'm using Windows XP): Is there any way to make it so that my moniter will switch to 1280 X 1024 automatically whenever I launch Flash MX? I know that many games take control of your resolution when you start them up, is there any way I could set Windows, Flash, or use some third party software to increase my resolution whenever I use Flash MX? Thanks,

Probably not. I currently don't use XP.. but I would be suprised if you can do this.

Games that take control usually don't let you switch back to windows.

Hmm, that's too bad. Sounds like there's some money to be made creating a program that would let you set resolution rules for certain applications on your computer...

    Thats nothing

We have a laptop here that runs at 1200x1600, when you lower the res it looks crap (fuzzy). Websites are like postage stamps.

Perhaps MX's new environment functions will allow us to create sites which reformat nicely on massive screens?

actually the answer to the question is yes (and correct me if i'm wrong)...
i'm at work right now (win98) but i have xpPro at home.
right click on the exe, thats all i can remember now. someone else want to help. i think it might be under compatability mode. i know there's an option to have it start up at a specific resolution. if it's not built in, i'm pretty sure there is a way you can code it via a shortcut target or something.

From what I can tell, those tools and the WinXP properties will only allow you to change to 640x480 mode. Not higher resolutions.

But that Compatibility Administration Tool sure is interesting!

That program does exactly what you (and I) want. Doesn't mention it, but it works in 2000/XP as well as 9X
