    jeaf-
i remember a tutorial on that..it actually winds up being 3 or 4 programs...it's not an easy thing to do, and it can not be done in swish (alone).

it involves taking an avi film, bringing it into a video editing prog. and running a few filters through it, then exporting it into another program to do a few more filters, then into flash / swish. i'll try to find an article on in somewhere.

    that forum...

there's a ton more, and these threads are on animated characters, not that walking man effect specifically..but do a few searches in some engines like google or on here on flashkit....

I know that this isn't as realistic or as good as your example but here's my quick and simple example:

    http://www.clubbourbonstreet.com/man_walking.htm
    http://www.clubbourbonstreet.com/man_walking.swi

You MUST have the latest Swish TEST build to open the SWI

The 'man' images are numbers zero through nine of the Swifty Font ... get it here:

    Jeaf,

Here is a sample of 4 people walking (I think this is the file from which the single man walking came from).

You can download a Swish.swi file or if you have Flash you can download the .fla file and breakup the file to have 1 to 4 people walking, resize and save to .swf

    Here's one I did

its clearly not what you want, but the technique used to create it is probably similar to the way the other guys do it. Use poser4 to create the realistic animation exported as avi. Import avi into jasc paintshop pro animation shop export each individual frame back into paintshop pro making background transparent and saving each frame then import each transparent frame back into swish to re create the animation...................simple

This kind of animation can be quite stunning. See the preloader and intro here:
    http://www.hfluk.com/corporate/intro.htm

Not sure about the loading on slower connections, may affect the timing. Refresh/reload if it does.

Will appreciate your comments re loading, etc.

    here's a good 'un ..

    http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/...?tw=multimedia

    (last page of a tutorial)
It was done in flash .. could it be done in swish ?
(it mentions keyframes which apparently swish doesn't
support - does it need them ?)

    Thanks to all

I found an other increadible example, I put the .swf on my site
    http://www.fjeanneau.com/walkingman.swf

Persaltier : Good idea, I know you can do it in the new version of Flix
    http://www.wildform.com/flix/
    Flix directly vectorizes your video.

Hilo : I like your example.

    Jerry T : Excellent method

AlienInLondon : Beautifulk site. How do you do your character, Poser ? Which do you use for your mechanical wheel ?
