Video Editing Software

I need to make recommendations about video editing software for purchase to my boss. While I have done a very small amount of work with both QuickTime Pro and Final Cut Pro, I would like some more informed opinions, so....

What experiences do you have with video editing software. I (unfortunately) am dealing with Windows computers here, so for me Final Cut Pro is out. I'm looking for mini-reviews on software in all price ranges and professional levels from the low-budget, no frills editors to Premier and beyond.

i use premiere for my hard core projects, and i use ULead's Studio for my quick and dirty ones. The latter actually produces decent stuff. It came with my All-in-Wonder graphics card, and I've actually enjoyed it.
