ive been trying to make a scrollable menu move when you put your mouse over the menu but it doesnt seem to come out aswell as i would like it to
like if you goto http://deftomes.com i would like to have a menu at the top like that
could anyone help me out my checking out http://deftones.com and telling me how to do it

This is going to require doing some scripting. Without just doing it for you the most I can offer is an approach.

make you menu as a child movie and place it on a layer under a mask so that you only see part of it. Make the layer have properties and allow velocity and acceleration. Place an invisible button over the entire mask area. In the buttons mouseover action call a list of actions that get the mouse position and setting the velocity of the layer +- depending on the mouse position.

It'll take a little thought and trial and error to be sure but I'm sure you can do it.
