I know I can insert an SWF into a Km movie, then generate the swf that will play that dependant file... the problem is that the dependant file needs to stay with the km movie.
Is there any way to have a swf inserted so it is not a dependant but a part of the km file itself?
If not, is this in the works?
I have a real need for something like this... a friend of mine is working in Flash and generating a few SWFs that I need to include in my km movie.
I know I could reassemble them all in native Flash, but if this could be done in KM...that would be great!
I know Swish does sprites to allow this.

You can do it with movie clips if you want to -- that is the base implementation used in KM. Or, just generate a dummy swf with the name you will be using and the proper size until you get the finished one.

I may have described it wrong.
For example (example only...I dont intent to steal work)
I download a swf from Flashkit. It is called fk1.swf
I make a KM movie called km.swf... and want to insert fk1.swf.
If fk1.swf is not in the same directory as km.swf, it does not appear.
If I were to email only km.swf, fk1.swf will not be displayed.
fk1.swf is dependant.
I need to be able to import fk1.swf into my km movie and generate a swf that does not need fk1.swf with it. fk1.swf becomes part of km1.swf itself.
Swish does this by using sprites. Can KM have this functionality?

Okay now for the bad news:
SWiSH and Flash itself can only import the shapes. Take a Morphing KM SWF and try to import into SWiSH- It should bugger it (At least it used to). A side note is that SWiSH does not import just with sprites- You can import any SWF Shape into it either as a sprite or as a regular shape.
O.K>- Quick reality test!!! Take a SWF with any AS or Sound and try to import into SWiSH- The sound is lost and any actions are lost. Take the same SWF and Import it into Flash 5 or MX envirenments- Sounds, actions, and other things are lost on import. Ther SWiSH import feature is no worse than what is in Flash itself however its still not like taking one SWF and importing the whole thing into the environment.
-Even if the SWF shape import was implemented most users would still find the feature lacking...
Ok... Now to the good news:
There is a program out there- and it is freeware called Clipyard. You can download it at http://www.goldshell.com
This little Gem will take 2 or more SWFS and will slice them up and make them Movieclips of a larger SWF. You can adjust the Timeline lengths and placement of the movies from Clipyard. Goldshell created this little Gem so that users could take MixFX and Flax creations and combine them into larger creations. Your sounds and actions are preserved when you splice 2 swfs together. If you used advanced AS it is important that you did not use absolute targets.. EG instead of using _root.MC you used _parent.mc or this. It's a handy little app nonethe less.
