multiplayer environments -> please help

Hey guys please help me out. I've been doing research on the subject 'multiplayer/user environments' for a while. This all in order to write a paper for school. Due to a crash of my computer all my data is gone, bookmarks, documentation; EVERYTHING!

So my question to you guys is; if you have seen documentation online regarding this subject please send me urls, if you have any documentation laying around email it to me! My paper is due in 4 weeks, please help!

I am currently working on a multiuser project. I simply went to google and searched for keywords like "flash xml sockets" in combination with for example perl, java or jsp". This will give you a bunch of quality search results among which probably the link to tupps mysql faq page (http://www.tupps.com/flash/faq/xml.html).

As I have a perl background I chose to try perl with the modules io::socket and io::select as the socket server. So far it works fine, although I have to test how stable it is and how many concurrent users it can handle.
