Something I felt I had to do. Understand Flashkit is an international board, and hope my sentiments don't offend anyone. It's been almost a year, and yet it still seems like it happened yesterday.

I realize some of the mods will want to transfer this to the members forum, but that isn't my intent..."to generate traffic". I just wanted to share something I felt I needed to express. I hope those that do view it understand my sentiments.

I find your animation a little confusing, why would you show the buildings blowing up when there are many nicer things that could have been added, firefighters, policemen, people in the streets helping out (regardless of race, religion, etc.),

Also forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't that a devils star at the top of the image?? (Five pointed start displaying a pentagram in the middle) If so is it intentional or accidental?

Would you rather have a six sided star of David? I've done the firefighter, police, postal worker thing, there were a lot of other people that were lost, that don't fit into any specific category. I was memorializing the event. Did you read the text? What about the restuarant, waiters, waitresses, clerks, typists, etc. that were lost--maybe you have a suggestion how to reflect their memories...there were also messangers, janitors, all the little people...not just firefighters, police and postal workers. Are you just into stereotypes?

I like your idea behind this but like flipshark said you could of made it a little bit better by highlighting actual photos from the event that shows our strenght not showing two buildings going down and then our flag.

If you show one photograph of one person, why not all. bandwidth is limited. It was just a sentiment I wanted to present. I wanted to list the names of all those missing, but, I couldn't come up with it. Maybe you guys can make something more responsive, and comprehensive...I look forward to seeing it.

hey just remember I didn't say it was bad at all. If I do have time later this summer I'll try to make something and I'll let you know if I do. Thanks again though for making that and sharing it with us.

    Hey cougrhky20,

I took your criticism as contructive, and most of it I thought of while I was putting together the project myself, so I take no offense. Look forward to seeing anything you put together. Hope you will post it. This was just something I felt compelled to do at this time, I am open to criticism, but not unwarranted accusations that I am a "devil" worshipper. Hey a star is a star, and if you are trying to cut glass to fit in a window, this is the way you do it. Get a life when it comes to the devil guys--symbols don't make the devil...intentions and caving to protect yourself does.

I'd have to admit not being American it scared me a little! I think the senitiment is nice and it's not something that will be easily forgotten. What scares me a little is that it's still a month to go until the first anniversary and memorials are starting to appear (nothing aimed towards this post) but I noticed with interest that August 6th was the 56th anniversary of the Hiroshima bomb which killed in the region of 220,000 people and little has been said on the subject.

    Well Japan had a ceremony.
There was coverage in the media.

Death count from the hiroshima atomic bomb was closer to 130,000

What the heck are you talking about.
First off I was wondering what the star had to do with the imagery at all. The whole point of your memorial is to have people look at and analyze it, everthing from the buildings falling down, to the towers of light rising up have meaning, I wanted to know if the star represented anything or if it was just there for no reason whatsoever, which clearly it is.

Second, I didn't just bring up firefighters/policemen, I also mentioned the people of New York "helping each regardless of race religion etc."

I think that for this to be a memorial that people pass around (as I assume is your intent from the pass it on button on the page) you should focus more on the good things (ie how people came through in the face of adversity, everyone helped one anothwer through it etc.) not just the bad.

I'm sorry but from this the only message coming across is: "the blew us up were still pissed a year later, and we will always be pissed."

As for the stereotype comment, first look it up in the dictionary, then rewrite in when your IQ surpasses that of a 12 year old.

I am not proud of Hiroshima, I wasn't born then, but my parents were, and my father was serving in the South Pacific--I hope it never happens again--I wish it never happened, as I do this. I hope we have learned and will continue to learn. As to the timing...I don't know what to say--it's been on the news and I've been thinking about it. It's only when the common the man stands up and says enough, that maybe all this sort of thing will end. I really feel there are others with financial interests that suck the rest of us into fray. As for flipshark--the star is part of our flag...do you have a problem with that? And as far as good things...I can't think of any. Sorry if my timing offended anyone, I am not trying to profit by it. My cards are free to all.

well your motive was good, but the flash sux man... sux hard... i dont think people want to see your rendition of the building collapse either. if i were making this, this is what i would do:
1st have some good background music that fits the mood of the movie
2 have REAL pictures from the event
3 show more than the blown up buildings and debree, show rescuers and stuff.
4 get goos hosting with good bandwitdh im sure someone would do it for free for a good cause.

    Devil's star???
a pentagram up that way is a symbol of protection, and up the other way of conjuration... has nothing more to do with devil worship than a few TV shows and movies. As a symbol is used in several religions including wicca...

    Not everything is about christianity

sorry if I am sounding harsh, but this kinda thing is annoying for me. I'll take a deep breath now...
ok, I'm fine now, coming down from my soapbox...

But seriously Pentagrams and pentacles have little to do with christianity, but feature in some older religions and alchemical traditions

first off to all those who dissed poor phacker IMO should keep their mouth shut.. any piece of art be it for memorial purposes or not is an expression of the artist. you shot the guy down because he didn't do it like you would have..screw that...its good that people remember what happened alot of lives where lost.

but to shoot someone down for expressing the way the try to deal with it is wrong ....

First off how is that question about christianity?? I wanted to know why the star was there. Phacker said "what would you rather have the star of david?" which did not answer my original question.

He now has answered my question by stating it is there to represent the satr of the flag.

For the record I am not christian, I think the reason you see religion in everything is only in your head

the reason he went into that 'the star is not religious' thing is because you called it the devil's star, it's not, apparently.

I'm closing this thread, I have a to agree with vamps, this wasn't supposed to be a thread full of arguments, just appreciation of the events and memorial, and now it is just a bunch of bickering.

If phacker wants me to open it again, email me.
