Thanks for all your suggestions and help (and pictures, Tonytryout) ... I finally figured out (the basics) of what I wanted and the landscape job is finished - thanks mucho for ya'lls input

    Before:

    After:

Okay - I know it's hard to see 'cause it's a crappy picture so ... on the outer corners - burford hollies - in the center in front of each column are two crimson barberry plants with maidenhair grass as a 'backdrop' ...

    Side View:

The little bushes are gardenias ... and those other tree lookin' things are burford hollies ...

And we have to keep in mind that these things will need to grow and they are just the basics - I know I have alot to fill in

Pictures are low qual. but I wanted to save on load time

I notice the close proximity of the trees to the house.

Burford hollies grow to about 20 ft high, any tree of that size will have a large root structure which might cause problems with your foundations.

Tree roots can undermine foundations or suck all moisture from them, causing subsidence....

...unless of course they are dwarf burfords.

I was in a big quandry about what to plant that close to the house - where were you when this all started?

They're dwarfs ~ I made sure of that when they planted

    Thanks, Cyk

I still have some fill in planting to do - and waiting for the barberry, etc to 'bush out' a little, but overall - I'm happy with the job they did

4 bedrooms and none of your business how much we paid Just get on a homefinder sight or somesuch and look for homes in the Dallas suburbs ...

I think we have one of those homes that probably look bigger on the outside than it really is ...
