Whatever your view of Iraq may be, this is a perfect example of sensationlist reporting.

This is a summary of a video I got through my FeedRoom newsletter..

    Rumsfeld gets an earful
Chanting "inspections, not war", two protestors heckled Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld as he told Congress to quickly authorize force against Iraq.

An earful consists of 2 protestors?!

I'm really getting sick of watching the news these days...the dramatize everything.

they could have been on either side of him, and been loud.

    I suppose..

I still think it is exaggeration for the point of a good story.

hyperbole's are the norm in reporting politics. guess I'm just realistic due to continued exposure.

I saw that on the news. Donald Rumsfeld was giving a speech and two protesters were screaming at him behind his back. They were allowed to do this for quite awhile before they were finally escorted out so they could continue the meeting.

Whats funny is that Donald Rumsfeld pointed at the demonstrators and said, "See, those people wouldn't be able to do this in Iraq, where they don't have free speech".

actually I heard a sound bite on the radio, the 2 of them couldn't even chant it in unison.

OMG, I hope not! That idiot character single-handedly reduced Star Wars to a the hypocrisy that now represents the original 3.

But I guess that's another thread...

Maybe it is all conspiracy These two protestors were employed by Bush and starting screaming so that Rumfield could delivery a cool speech "if they were in Iraq, they won't be able to say these freely".

    Were the protestors giant people?

That'd scare the crap out of me and also be news worthy

Aversion, I didn't hear the clip...didn't realize it was inside...their voice really carried.

Rumsfeld had a GREAT response to them after they were escorted out though.

"Mr. Chairman, as I listened to those comments, it struck me what a wonderful thing free speech is. And, of course, the country that threw the inspectors out was not the United States; it was not the United Nations. It was Iraq that threw the inspectors out. And they've thrown them out, and they've rejected 16 resolutions of the United Nations and stipulations. But, of course, people like that are not able to go into Iraq and make demonstrations like that because they don't have free speech.

"I think one other point I'd make before proceeding is that there's obviously a misunderstanding on the part of those who think that the goal is inspections. The goal isn't inspections. The goal is disarmament. That is what was agreed to by Iraq. That's what was understood by the United Nations. The ease with which people can migrate over and suggest that the task before the world is inspections, you can only have inspections when a country is cooperating with you."
