There are several options for this little problem.
1) You could set the property "visibility" of all movieclips in that layer to 0. But, if there are objects in that layer other than movieclips, i suggest option 2 (I'd prefer that one anywayz =)
2) You should make a new layer one level above the layer which you want to hide. In that layer, you should make a movieclip which has exactly the same size as your movie. Then you should add the option "hide" to the new layer. Now it will only show parts of the layer beneath it which lay directly beneath the movieclip you just made. In the last frame you were talking about, you should set the x- and y- scale of the movieclip to 1 or something, or you could just place it somewhere outside the stage. This way the layer beneath it will not be shown to the user in the last frame.
Tho, this threat is a little bit in wrong msg-board-sction.
