Hi:

This isn't a site check, but a image scroller check. I just wrote a code that was running very choppy for some unknown reason, so I posted this in the AS forum. However, once I uploaded the file to the web, it seemed to, and still does, play fine.

Please check it out and tell me if the motion is choppy. [the photos are just for display]

Choppy or not choppy, that is the question.

Also, what type of system do you have? Processor, RAM, graphics card. Maybe it's a bit processor intensive....

not choppy at all, just really smooth. Unfortunately I have no idea what the specs for this compter are since I´m at work. I just know it´s got windows XP and that´s about it.

No sooner had I thought that it was running okay, and it started the choppy behavior again. Ironically, I have another one, and it runs just fine, but both are set at 24fps. In fact, I have bumble bee demo on my site that's 100fps, and it's running fine on my little 650MHz, system, 128MB RAM system.

Loaded in 11 seconds.

I found it not to be smooth. Your description of the scroll to the right as choppy is maybe a bit extreme, however it is not smooth.

There is, in my opinion an issue, knowing you as I do

Okay, so I'm picky. I'm just not sure, if it's my system or the script. But it appears to be draining system resources--sometimes it runs like a dream--other times it's, in a word, "choppy."

Anyway, thanks for your input, although your computer is too fast.

Hi, I have a PIII 450 MHz, and it wasn't choppy at all. The second one (the one with the mountains and trees) was a little choppy, though. But the first one ran smooth as silk.

Tested with three comps:

266mhz pentium II
866mhz pentium III
2.26 pentium IV

Works great!
Just a little bit coppy on the Pentium II

WOW! Great feedback. Thanks heaps. Although this isn't a site check, I'm just testing the script, I really apprecitate everyone's input.

It does appear that there is a pattern--sometimes choppy, sometimes not,usually on slower machines, which leads me to believe that the script is too processor intensive and needs some modification.

Thanks...this does help. Even though I'd like some input from people with slower machines, this does tell me that it's probably a processor problem, as the faster machines seem to handle it better.

I'm kinda tired of general web design, so I'm exploring the idea of specializing in Virtual Reality and scrolling panorama viewers. Once I debug the script, I'll start making a couple dozen skins for the viewers, probably add zoom as well, and if I can get my hands on some fisheye lens photo, vertical panning too. Then, I'll start marketing to Real Estate companies, car dealerships, manufactured housing builders, resorts, bed & breakfasts, tourism sites in general, etc.
Anyone who would benefit from attractively displaying their "product" in a visually appealing way.
