it's very secure and the timeout's never been a problem for me, I also find it's just an easier app to use than the FTP ones I tried. I have bulletproof for FTP on client servers but I just don't like it :P

I used to use WSFTP but now I jsut use Dreamweaver MX's built in FTP. Its quite nice and has improved a lot from previous versions. Its the fastest way for me to make changes while Im working within Dreamweaver.

For those people that use cute ftp, the newer versions ping back to their servers..not fun i'd say.... i use ws_ftp. LE is crap, but Pro is awesome!
and yeah, dreamweaver MX's ftp got much better from version 4, however, sometimes you want to just ftp to a site without having to build a site map and all that crap.... so for that ws_ftp.

just looked through the options and in the advanced preferences (which you can only access at the start up screen before you login, you can click an option to send dummy packets to keep the connection open.
