    Windows 2000 users.

    Hey, anyone who is running win2k. Does it have PWS or IIS with it? I am about to install it on my matchine. so, I just wanna make sure.

    to get IIS you need Windows 2k Advanced Server.

    not sure what you mean by PWS though...

    PWS as in personal web server. I don't know for some reason I am guessing that Installing win2k adv. server is gonna be a big hassel. I'll be happy with Personal Web Server if I can get it working on win2k.

    I'm running Win2k Pro with IIS 5.0 and everything is working fine. I use this machine to test a few sites that I've worked on.

    Everything's good testing with mySQL and MS Access databases with ASP.

    IIS comes on the disks, just go to add programs then add/remove windows components.

    When you insert the CD and it auto starts. Click install components.

    already got xp home installed man! i am creating setup disks now cuz it won't let me run the set up from windows xp

    erm. why did you ask for win2k, but you're running winXP!?



    ok. use your win2k CD in a win2k machine. otherwise, if you have winXP, don't think about it, unless you're gonna do the registry hack to install IIS on a winXP home machine, mmmkay?

    i did the 'work around' of IIS on XP home. got it installed but its not working right... i don't know whats wrong. I need to get a project done by wednesday. i have been palying around with this thing and had enough. Can't afford to waste anymore time now.

    dude, there were some pretty heavy duty reg hacks to get that running. you sure you followed them all?

    i did. i got it installed and all. but all these goofy setting with IIS making me go nuts! it says i am not autorized to view a test page that i created on http://localhost [HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden ] i followed all the resolutions that i can find in the web. nothing is working.

    If I type in http://localhost/localstart it works but nothing with just http://localhost/ [which should load the default.asp] or http://localhost/test.asp test.asp has a simple Now() thing in it. it dosen't work.
