    Warcraft

    Finally,the first public preview !
It's just the beginning,so don't ask too much.
    http://necromanthus.com/Games/Flash/warcraft.html
warning: "multitasking" engine !!! (not tested on entry-level machines).
    Sound ON !
I need all my friends opinions & sugestions.
    (I'm searching for possible bugs)
    p.s.
both versions (KoolMoves & Flash MX) are developed at the same time.
    cheers

    LOL.

Looks (almost) just like the real thing!

Pathfinding - the little peasants get foiled too easily by obstacles.

But that is a tough call - I know that pathfinding is a begger of a thing and a good algorythym can rip the ooomph out of a machine.

BTW Necro (Remus?) where are you from and what do you do - if you don't mind a personal question or two.

    Owen

Addendum: Sound sometimes goes buzzy, then comes good again.

Owen is the first (as I expected)
    1) about PathFinding ... this is not a bug.
This feature isn't implemented yet (is on my "to do" list).
But don't forget that I can't play with ActionScript as I can play with C++.(I try to avoid Flash HUGE limitations).
    2) About myself ...visit my MUSIC section for more details.
3)Sound Buzzy ...this is not a bug.
It happends (sometimes) when is more than one "chopper" (sound multiplied). In a next version I'll put a button for Sound ON/OFF.
    thanx

I played warcraft. It is like age of empires I beleive. I let it play on its own for 15 minutes while the workers collected gold and wood. The score kept track of the gold and wood as the workers gathered. The farm did not work for me. There was no problem with sound. I played on a 450 pIII and a 550 amd with no problem or lagging. This is pretty cool.
Any programming language is at its best before it is implemented and used.

Works on my old K6 ...

Hilary Warcarft has a freeware clone, not quite as good, called Lord Monarch http://www.falcom.com/monarch/index_e.html

Although I must admit the FastFood levels in Lord Monarch are amusing.

Glad to hear a flash-master's "voice".
Johnie,I think it's time to buy a P4/3GHz for yourself.
    About "Lord Monarch"...cool graphics,but NO engine !
Warcraft is a RTS (Real Time Strategy)!
I'm waiting for more from you !
    cheers

    There is an english version...

Its not the as high quality as something you would buy, well it is free, but it is a very basic and freeware clone of the Warcraft genre.

If you guys like strategic and tactical games, there is a very complex and detailed game (free) at http://www.matrixgames.com/ called SPWAW or Steel Panthers World at War.

This thing goes right down to the ammo left per weapon type per unit. It has hundreds, maybe thousands of scenarios and campaigns, and more being developed by the SPWAW addicts all the time.

Scenario and campaign editors, many nations, attempts realism, good graphics, user community, reasonable AI, multi-player capabilities, also play by email, etc.

SPWAW is a huge (7mb) download and has a learning curve.

    Great stuff Necro!
The only issue I saw was if I have all the "workers" doing the same job, they tend to get in each others way and get stuck. They also get stuck behind objects when they have completed a task and you then you have to click on them to get them to move and they drop their logs or gold...

    Hee hee... I like it...
    Well done.

At this time, the peasants are very dummy.
For them, the unique way is the shortest way.
This is because of the missing "PathFinding" (is on my "to do" list).
    Thanx Hilary
