Help me learn a british accent!

Okay...anyone got any links, books, resources for learning a british accent?

I have to be Scrooge in a play at my church. So far the only thing I can get out is a Connery-style scottish accent.

Actually...come to think of it...maybe I could post my lines, and one of you wonderful people in the UK could record it and post it?!

Can you learn an accent from a book? That sounds like too much work. You've got to hear it...

Well...any literature on pronunciation...coupled with hearing it would be a perfect combination.

you could do an interesting interpretation by playing scrooge as ozzy osbourne, he is british, and you can just watch the osbournes to get the accent down pat.

to say "teach me a british accent" is like saying "teach me an american accent".

There are numerous dialects. Scottish is different to English. The Yorkshire accent is different to Cockney.

Yeah, but it's Cockney that he wants, I dare say.

Just watch some Michael Caine movies. Great entertainment and a great accent. I like 'The Italian Job', 'Alfie' and for sonething a little more recent, 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'.

As long as you don't base it on Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins you should be okay
