    knock on wood

    OK, i just knocked on some wood but nothing happpend!
    i even touched it..
    What is the origin and true meaning of knocking on some wood?

    it's an old superstition where they believed touching wood was a way to bring out good luck/fortune...

    I believe knock on wood/touch wood, was a way of testing the integrity of a ships hull.

    yeah i know..i'm taking a course as we speak .how to hug and talk to trees and stuff it's very difficult.. i can tell you that..
