    New Swift 3D book

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

I saw that this is up on amazon so I thought I would let you all have a peek at what Savant and I have been working on with a few others.

Here is one of the models you will learn how to create in Swift in the book Regards, Bill

In the beginning the web was without shape and color, and the hype covered the darkness of the net. Then there was a Flash and life came to the web and vision became reality.

Thanks, congratulations should go out to the whole team, I was only a part of it. I did Five of the Chapters but I think Savant did more than that. I think that everyone who had their hand involved should be proud of the work. Regards, Bill

Just because I know he would never say anything himself, I am going to. This project is Savant's (Kristopher Honeycutt) pride and joy. In addition to his new child, he also has this project to be proud of. He was responsible for cranking out at least half of the chapters while at the same time expecting, then later delivering his new baby. I am personally in awe of his ability to quickly produce high quality work on a consistant basis. The guy is a machine. And a better man than I am.

I was originally responsible for doing the other half of the book, but due to extended illness and other concerns I ended up completely dropping the ball, and I'll step up and admit it. I'm grateful to Bill and the other contributors for picking up the slack left in the wake of my own dismal failure.

I just want to make sure that Kris is given fair credit for the work that he did and the effort that he gave to this project, though. I don't want to in any way diminish the efforts put forth by any of the other contributing members, but in my personal opinion the credits should reflect the considerable length that Kris went to in putting this project together.

And to all those who are wondering if they should purchase this book...the answer is a resounding YES!!! It is definitely a valuable resource that every Swift3D user should have. (no, I'm not getting paid to say that)

    btw...Nice motorcycle, Bill.

Thanks for the compliment. I took my original V2 bike and re did a lot of the parts this time round. I think its ok, I need to put a few more pieces of detail on it, but it turned out nice for the project.

Its a marvel that this book got finished. I dont think many know the story of this book but it started out as a book that Mano1 and Vince Suriani were supose to do.
Version 1, Then I was brought into the project but Mano didnt want to do it anymore.

Then it was to be me and Vince but that got hosed because we were waiting to get the beta of V2 and Vince went off to be a hermit.

Then It was to be me, Matrix, Glyn Thomas and Si Thatcher. That would have been a killer book, we were going to cover three programs, but 9/11 happend and I just could not get motivated.

Then this came around with Kris and yourself, well you know the rest. Its like I said amazing that it even got finished. But its done and I think over all its going to be a good solid book.

I find myself experimenting more and more with version 3 then the previous versions. I have learned alot in the past two weeks.

When will this book be published and how can I get it?

Great work (haven't seen it yet) but I'm sure it is well worth the money!

    Hi Bill,

Do you know when this book will be printed? Or is there anything out there as good? It's just that I'm being pushed by the boss to learn Swift 3D V.3 ASAP. Not that I'm complaining at all. NO WAY!

    Thanks,
    RobG
