Increasing your link popularity on search engines

    increasing your search engine popularity.

This thread already exists in the lounge, thought we might like to try it here too.

Basically, link popularity is the number of other domains that link to your site. The more sites that link, the greater your ranking on search engines and indexes.

Basically, the plan is to submit your site to a form (available in my footer) and then when we have collected enough members, we provide you with a html listing of each and every other member who has submitted their information.

All we ask of you is that you include this html page (with formatting if you like) somewhere on your site. It could be linked from a '.' or other such hidden way, as long as the spiders can find it, thats all that matters.

Anyone who is interested (it can't hurt can it), please click the link in my footer and enter your site details.

You can enter as many sites as you like but you must include the page on every site submitted.

    Regards

Do all of the links pages contain identical links?

And is there any theming going on or can anyone qualify?

Erm, you only get one links page that contains the details of everyone who submits their information. It should be linked from somewhere on your website.

What I mean is, if you submit two sites

    eg

    www.razormedia.co.uk
    www.scottmanning.com

then you should upload and link the links page you will be sent (from me or vampstko) from each of the sites.

    ok ?

and whilst i'll surely stick to the rules, how do you check for cheaters? Check the source for every entry? Or rely on some sort of common trust theme? Either way, i like the initiative.. could use some more hits

depending on the route we take and the time available to us, we hope to use some form of link tracking.

Nevertheless, myself and vampstko will be checking websites regularly to make sure everyone is displaying their links.

We will update the links page once per month to enable users to add new members and delte the cheats.

    Regards

(cheers for the pm serpent star!)

don't some spiders look for the relevancy of the link by comparing meta tag descriptions ?
"They're very much like scruffy pigs to look at, and they've got big, knobbly warts and lumps all over their long, hairy faces. They are very, very ugly indeed..."

Remove mine please as the site is gone.

In the process of thinking of a domain - not a clue what to call it!!

yes... well, not really by meta tag comparisons, more likely anchor text of the link itself.

<Title>+<description>+<keywords>+<body>(+popularit y not all engines require link pop)=rankings

I'd like to note that neither scottmanning.com or razormedia.co.uk link to each. It's just an example.

    "...it can't hurt can it".
Not to discourage, but I think this might work against you.

The complex algorithms and mathematical formulas used by spiders and search bots detect repetition and can have your site blacklisted if construed as spam. Should that happen, your domain can be banned from the search engines.

Search engine optimization is more than running an FFA page or link farm. While its true that part of the criteria involves having links point at your site for the link popularity consideration, more importantly is the quality of the links pointing at your site.
You could have 200 friends sites linked to you, but 3 or 4 commercial sites which are already established and offer a link to you are considered more worthwhile in terms of link popularity.

The time invested in exchanging links with relevant sites will be far better in the long run as opposed to trying anything like doorway pages, FFA etc that might have you banned.

As search engine requirements evolves, keep one thing in mind, there is no magic formula. But learning search engine spider criteria is a good start.

In a nutshell, its the quality of links. Not just the quanitity.

I think that there is some replanning going on. I would like to encourage you to join the discussion in the following thread.

I have to agree with fla999, from what I've learned so far, link farming is a no no and can get you banned. While it may work in the beginning, I'm sure the engines are aware of this kind of thing and wont take to kindly to the practice.
