Marmotte, your doing us all a very good service. Thankyou. Although I have no need for a game like this. I will archive it, because, well, ya never know

    Thankyou.

(P.S.- Can't wait to see the new website, man.)

    Flash Wize
    aaaaah. great! ^^

    thanks ^^.
did you already try the preview?

i'm doing it scrolling based right now, like my zelda open source, but... mmmhhh...
there's no doubt, the more i implement features, the less it's smooth. i'll very possibly stick to the non-scrolling version (screen after screen) if it goes worse. ><

i really wanted to do a zelda-like system (i mean all scrolling based), because it looks so cool and the world so huge, but very unfortunately due to some flash limitations (slowdowns), well... too bad.

Preview? Preview of your website? Havn't been in these parts for a bit. Might of missed it. Mind posting a link?

    normally they are still online.
note, this was just a preview, but you can already change characters during the game and explore several areas (4), but never go up or down, the screens are not done here (offline the entire village is 75% done ^^)

    here's the thread:

    controls; arrows, space, ctrl

if you have a minute, you can test both versions and post a feedback
    thanks in advance ^^

There is, in fact, no keys for me to find, correct?

Well, just let me say the graphics are extremly excellant! I love them, actually. The ability to switch characters is a wonderful idea. My favorite part is the random movement of the animals. It isn't a big touch, but it is very nice and leads to the whole feeling of the game/website.

Hey marmotte, your flash movie runs fine on my computer... Ya, the scrolling is a little slow if you have the game on full screen (I mean with the whole map showing), but if you make it actual size (I mean minimize it to the movie's actual size) it runs quite smoothly.

    thanks for your comments...
there's no key for the moment, it was just a test engine (some people had the following problem; the game went slower and slower even without playing), but
there's already some cool engines done:

each playable character has his own characteristics (speed, attacks). plus they can do some things that other cannot; the ninja can cut the bushes (not online), but the racoon can only hit them, and sometimes make a bonus appear. also, each character has it's own dialogs (dialogs are ready to switch at the same time you change the character)...etc

great news, but i think i'll keep the screen after screen method... the window size will be doubled that way... the game is surely too heavy with all this swapable graphics, little animations and animals/humains movments for now... unfortunately.

It's because its art based that it's slow. I made a tile-based zelda clone that scrolls in all directions and slides from screen to screen, and it runs just fine on mine and others' computer (though only a few other people have tested it)

    -edit-
sorry i should've commented on the file aswell... it runs fine on my 1.2ghz machine when viewed in a window, but very slow when its showing the whole map

well, the zelda file is very smooth with me.

i was talking about my new web site, too hard to convert into tiles when you look at the depth and graphics complexity...

good work, actually ur art-based zelda scroll much faster than mine in a minimised mode.

i have done something similar long time ago, but i have just stop.
hope u will continue ur work on it.

    here is my one,
    http://www.geocities.com/mclelun/rpg.html

and ur website is really good, i like the idea how u make ur website like a game. so people will actually enjoy it.

    can borrow this idea?

hey, your zelda-like file is pretty good too, a little more complete as mine ^^

it scrolls faster probably because of the window size? i personaly used exactely the same window size as a real snes game...

about borrowing my idea, well, it already inspired some guys here ^^
please go ahead, when i see your zelda experiment (is it open source also?), i can expect some good quality...

    ps1: is it tile based?
ps2: it motivates me to improve my zelda open source file with chests to open and enemies to attack

    > but i have a web/game to do now...
