    Shared Objects isn't saving to a text file. Shared Objects is cookies itself. The syntex is as follows.

    To save a cookie.
    setCookie("stats","name",_root.name);

    Okay the first two words in " " is the name of the cookie it will save in. Kind of like a file cabinet. It would be in the stats folder and name would equal _root.name.

    To load the Cookie.
    _root.name = getCookie("stats","name");

    All your doing is specifing the file name since name equals _root.name. The first part with the _root.name is the varible you want the cookie to equal. And thats all there is to it. Keep in mind this is only used in Flash MX.

    Laters.

    sspskater, sharedObjects do create a text file with the extension .sol

    they are accessed using SharedObject.getLocal("filename"), i think you're using part of a function and not the actual method to access the data

    Well yeah Token 3 it does save as a file but he made it sound more like saving exactly to a txt externaly. And about the part of function. I'm using the full function of the cookies. Maybe there are more then one way. Probably is. The way I do works perfectly. I got it from Ed Mack's Tuts. Your way seems longer, but please explain how it would be done sounds interesting.

    hey marmotte: not to be too personal but, what do you do for a living? you seem to have such great artistic, and programming talents, and you do all these games for free(?)

    Wow! all this confusion over one little word... forget the "text" in my reply post to what's a sharedObject - it just saves it to a file alright! I think dJide would have got the general gist of sO's from what i wrote anyway, not like i was explaining the whole concept. And if anything, sspskater, you've caused more confusion by giving AS to things you havent defined. And if you read Ed Macks functions (all 2 lines of it) you would see the getLocal("file") token was talking about.

    (just re-read that, sounds like i'm having a go, i'm not)

    Anyway, getting off topic a bit here, i'm sure dJide knows enough what to research now...

    So what's new marmotte? Decided what's next to this awsome game? When can we see more of the series?? Not that i want to pressure you, but we're hungry and waiting for more ^^

    so much comments... they keep me motivated, guys, thanks!

    just to let you know, i added a rolling demo, when you keep the title screen without pushing anything ^^. i'm planning to put 3 stages, according to easy, medium and hard difficulties. you have the choice of the stage, plus will be able to re-enter and improve your overall score. talking about sounds, i'll surely add some sounds/musics. music will be actionscripted, so i'll programm drums and sounds/melodies to keep the file size very leight, even if the track's duration is 20 minutes ^^
    btw, due to that rolling demo, the file size increased a lot: it's now 120ko >< damn!
    i was wondering if someone already put up a rolling demo? i did like that: i played a normal game, but your _x, _y and shoot interactions where saved each frame in an array. then it's like a replay, just re-use the array (catched thans to the trace command) and it's ok!

    fospher, your score is amazing!
    for peronal living, i'm still student in a mutlimedia and design school, where i'm learning how to create 3D, cd-roms, web sites, DVDs, designs, typography (fonts), video (i like it a lot!) or video clips, including writing a scenario, a storyboard, learn how to shot the actors, the ambiance, adding sounds, mixing etc...

    i still have to find a work since i'll have my exams just before this summer... wow ^^

    i only got 19545

    marmotte, excellent as usual, my only problem is the screen size (but that't already been mentioned), I know that the design is based on the gameboy, i'd rather see a marmotteBoy - a different layout/front to a gameboy, i've seen similar layouts done - an original cover would be nice, maybe there's only so much you can do with that idea.

    anyway.. excellent game and brilliant graphics

    maybe have a difficulty option in the config menu?

    how long did you spend on the whole game, and how long did it take you the produce the graphics?

    mmmhhh... let's say from the very begining, less than one week? (evening and free time work i mean)

    marmotteBoy? ^^ i'm not that ego (i think).

    ok, the next time i'll update the game (i'll redraw the background graphics, they'll be cooler), i'll post also a size x2 version. i promise.
