turning the standalone into a computer interface???

    Hi
i'm doing a bit of ground work and i have a "what's the best way ....." question :

What i'd like to know is how to set up a projector on a public computer so that it becomes the main computer interface and the user is "locked" into it - (s)he can't get out of the projector environment into the rest of the computer.

I've seen that with fscommands you can run an external applications (exec) and open a local file (getURL). I've also seen a tute about exploring folders - but that seems a bit risky if the user can get access to other folders - is it possible to limit the range of the folder Explorer?

I've also seen that with trapallkeys=false you can block most keys on the keyboard but is there any way to block alt, alt+F4, the windows key, and ctrl+alt+del - in fact all the key combinations that would enable the user to access the rest of the computer?

thanks for any help you can give

Hi, download a copy of Flash Studio PRO and you can do all of that and more!

Infact, you should download the pysbermind remote control application which was built ENTIRELY with Flash MX and Flash Studio PRO - you can find it at http://www.multidmedia.com/downloads along with other samples and FLA's

The control app has a totally flash made folder explorer, socket transfer, remote communication and much more using the commands FSP provides.

    I hope this helps!

Les Paone offers a utility called Kumani at www.aritali.com that was designed specifically for turning Flash into kiosk style applications.

My product SWF Studio www.northcode.com is a more generic tool but it has a special feature called "kiosk mode" that makes it impossible for the user to leave your Flash application.

Kiosk mode allows you run your Flash movie in unattended, public or "untrusted" locations without fear of people gaining access to the operating system (unless you leave them a back door).

With SWF Studio you can also use the standard file open, file save dialogs. However, if you want to restrict access to the file system, you can provide your own file browser using commands in SWF Studio that let you get lists of files, drives directories, etc.

You also might want to try *********** Jugglor
