Can Flash do this or is it the wrong tool?

I have a bunch of Quicktime and Windows Media files that will be used for a CD presentation. I have not come across a way to call these media externally. The Flash book says that I have to embed the video into Flash or linked it. The problem with embedding is that I have to do an extra step of converting each quicktime and windows media file into SWF. Also, I didn't like the embedded video running at 12fps.

What I hope to do is to let Flash call the video just like the way a internet browser plays a video made in Quicktime or Windows Media Player.

This seems to be a simple problem but I can't believe that Flash can't do it or maybe I'm just ignorant.

Can somebody help or recommend a plug-in extension that will allow me to do the above.

    Thanks

Hi there here's some suggestion, FlashMx embeds movies into flash, but then, you'd like to run it on 12fps, at least, but that's up to you, i mean you can always change it to 24 or 25 if you want, i know exactly what your problem is and here's something to help you out, first if you have a lot of movies to embed so i suggest to use something else than flash cause it'll really play ssssssslooooooowwwwwwww...
here's a list of software to use
    SWFstudio 2.0 at www.northcode.com
    FlashStudioPro at http://www.multidmedia.com/
this are really powerfull tools that will allow you to enbed the movies the way you like and many, many more things that you'd probably love, i can tell...
You always have DirectorMX but there's no price batle here, those to up there are the ones, now is up to you which one to buy, i haven't decided it my self yet, anyways these are just to authoring programs of the bunch but in my opinion the ones worth a look
    I hope this helps
