Prequel (or sequel) to the best game ever is coming!

I quote a friend as he just wrote what I feel:

Ico, my friends, is what all other games should aspire to.

There are no games that touch it and few that come close...the game was just total brilliance.

This feeling we all feel right now...that feeling is something that more and more games should put into the hearts of gamers, but they don't. Thank goodness there are developers out there like the developers of Ico.
    Ok what game?

    http://www.gaming-age.com/cgi-bin/ne...4&nid=29-84.db

In spite of little hype (save for a cover from the Official US PlayStation Magazine), Sony’s Ico has become an irrefutable icon for innovation and creativity in an industry where licenses and established franchises have become king. It’s no surprise, then, that gamers and the industry at large have been curious to see what the team behind Ico was up to next.

A little adventure entitled Nico, apparently. The close relation in name to Ico likely isn’t by coincidence, though we don’t expect to know why until the title’s official unveiling, more than likely to happen at E3. Screen grabs of a trailer showcasing the upcoming release have leaked onto the ‘net from the meristation spanish forums, courtesy of poster “Blue Eyes.”

    Edit: Damn hotlinking! Ok, screens:

The screens are taken ilegaly from an intern dev conference, so the screen quality is not very good. (That info was posted on some forums)

Anyway, I'm pretty exited about this game, whatever it is exactly. Looks like an ICO prequel, but with this pictures you can't be 100% sure.

I've played Ico and loved it- it's a beautiful game. Thanks for reminding me what an amazing experience that game is.

It's been awhile since I played it. I'll look for more info on Nico.

Huh? I don't get any popups. Must be a random popup script.

Anyway, here's a good discussion about it: http://forums.gaming-age.com/showthr...threadid=32654

IGN has an article about it, too. --> http://ps2.ign.com/articles/400/400130p1.html

the images were unveiled with no description or source named -- other than the fact that they were apparently leaked images straight out of Sony Japan, and that they weren't supposed to be seen yet.

I read the title of your thread and throught to myself "but I'm already playing the new Zelda..."

Though I agree - Ico is just about as close to a perfect gaming experience as you can get - from beginning to end. It trancends genres.

I definately would prefer the idea of a similar but not directly related game - the original was like experiencing a really great fairy tale story, and to tack on a standard sequel to that would be an injustice.

Looks like it will be a directly related game judging by the horns. Maybe a completly different story in the same universe as the end of ICO makes it really hard for a sequel. A prequel would be possible after all.

I hope there will be more info at the E3, but it's not official announced.

    Anyway, can't wait for it.

I always hated Ego-Shooters and similar games, that's one reason why I have about zero interest in a PC or X-Flop. (The other one is M$)

Yeah, in the case of Doom, I'd agree - mindless shooters are boring. The other two really aren't mindless shooters at all. Ever play the first Deus Ex? Believe you me, it is more than just a shooter. Yeah, X-box sucks, I agree there. And Microsoft is not exactly a popular company these days, so I understand. I'm ticked at them for stealing the gamers market from Sony and the PC. I guess it makes business sense, but it still stinks.
