    I try to keep it to a grin. If I let myself really laugh out loud, people ask questions, I have to explain, it's not as funny to them because I had to explain, et cetera.

    Back several years ago when I was first chatting online, I actually thought lol meant something completely different: I thought it was an icon for someone raising their arms in a celebratory manner (the two l's are arms and the 'o' is the head). And I'd associate it in my mind with a Homer-Simpsonesque 'woohoo!'. When I see a lol, I still think 'woohoo!' in my mind, even though I have long-since known the correct definition of lol.

    to tell u the truth, i didn't even knew what LOL meant. people used to say it to me when i talked on msn but i never knew what it meant and i was to ambaresed to ask....

    now i know it!!!

    doesnt that suck? i mean now, if you REALLY mean LOL and even your flatmate's standing there looking at you weirdly, your LOL still wont be as effective to people who just think LOL is just a sniff coming out from their noses...

    goddammit. i wanna know if people are actually laughin or just looking at my post as if i'm oprah trying to host springer's show, yknowwhatimean?

    generally if i say "lol" or "hehe" its just something to keep the conversation going...im usually not laughing. I dun use LMAO but if i use LOL then im really laughing...

    I usually sniff sniff when i type lol,and when i type LOL i even laugh quietly, I never type any of those other rofl lmao watever....

    Ive got an idea! Why dont we make a new abbreviaton so we wont brake any internet laws

    No, I have become so bad about it now when in public and talking and some one says something funny I say lol instead of laughing I am sad (I am serious about the lol thing)
