Playback Visulization Help : )

I have just complete im mp3 player so. far and im just adding a few finishing touches. I have 2 questions,

question one: Would anyone know how to make a playback head what i want is a line representing the total time the song will play for and a little marker that moves along while the mp3 is playing until it reaches the end.

question 2: How can i detect the length of a mp3 file in time that is through action script. Eg song one - 2:45. And how can i detect how long the mp3 has been playing for. I know i can make a timer function but i was wondering if their is an easier way

Ok i worked out how to make a timer so dont need to answer question 2 Just need to know how to go about making a Playback head
