transparent setting on a group

Is there a way to set transparent properties on a grouped object..such as an insert from the clipart library?

If not, is this a feature that could be easily added?

The easiest work around is to convert the group to a movie clip. Transparency can be controlled for movie clips. I will note that this feature would be useful. You can also use a fade in or out for the group.
