GOOD preloader in the same movie file?
I've been using oldnewbie's preloader, and it works fine, its just that it's a pain to have to make two files for every movie!
Anyone know of a good preloader for large files (2.5 mb)?
I tried my own and the percent loaded didn't show up until the movie was 68% loaded!

U could actualy alter the code in his preloader so u could have the code inside ur movie then u wouldnt need the two files.
U could just have the code inside a empty MC and load that from ur gallery when u needed it.
Im not gonna go into it though but it can be done.

If you use components or attached files they are always going to load first, I guess thats why you need to use a separate loader. Dont think there is another way but using a swf shell that loads the main swf.

Well that's a bummer!
Maybe Macromedia will do me a favor and make the first frame of a movie appear when the page is loaded

Mine is a workaround when using components, exports on the first frame stuff, and/or embedding fonts.
You can uncheck all of your exports on first frame stuff (all elements of components that uses them), and then drag an instance of the component used in unseen frames between your preloader and main scene. It's in the end, more work than using a 2nd seperate preloader movie, but the choice is your's!

Are you using components, exports on the first frame stuff, and/or embedding fonts, in your movie?

Listen! You don't need to create two files for every loaded movie. You simply need two files to load your main interface movie if and only if you use components, Export on the first frame stuff, and/or embed fonts in your main interface movie. After that if you use a generic preloader within the main movie, you don't need to build 2 files for every loaded movie.
You'll find such a generic preloader in this thread...
