    look vewwy vewwy closely..

all good gates hae little signs on the m saying FRONT or BACK. this way you can always tell if you are in front of or behind it.

What sort of rediculous statement is that!
    Look at your front door!
If it has a Deadlock/Mortice Lock - the hole goes right through - so you can lock the door from the inside - its the same with gates!

of course you can be in front of something you can see. Being in front of something has nothing to do with which way you are facing. If you and I were stood, with you facing my back, you'd be behind me, even if you turn 189 degrees.

never argue with a women (escpecially when your drunk) they will always take the exact opposite point of view of you, you will never win the argument and you WILL sleep on the couch that night.

Whats the proper answer to this. I think if you were in a court room you would have to be specific to any given situation.

I go along with argonauta's way of thinking. If your approaching the gate the gates leading the way (but it is stationary). If the gate and you were stationary no one is leading the way. Gates dont have a front and a back in shape or appearance, you mite commonly say if your at an entrance your at the front of the gate. And humans have a front and a back anything behind you is behind you same as the line theory and anything in front of you is in front of you.

I would say if your inside the gate so youve gone thru it and your stationary with your back facing the gate , the gate would be behind you would be bedind the gate.

I dunno whats this all about?? Your probably going to win in court because the gates not going to be about to talk anyway.

In front of: What is in the forward facing direction of an object. Example What you see is what's in front of you , not what you are behind. If two people stand facing each other they are both in front of the other. Just cause you' in front of me does not mean I am behind you. In this case the explanations of the gate being part of a fence encircling an area would come to play as a gate has no eyes. It it has an inside and out usually the inside is refered to as behind the gate. However, picture yourself within a maze with multiple exits and multiple gates. If a Gate is in front of you your are not really in front or behind the gate. To the gate you are BESIDE it as it has no forward facing direction. Of course in many cases "in front of" is said by a 3rd party. and then their relation to you and the gate can come into play but I'd need another dozen pages to get into that.

If kac is the gate you are infront of the gate because i posted this but because there are posts before this that you are also behind the gate. So obviously you are both behind and infront of the gate.

[QUOTEDepends which side of the gate you're on. If there's a gate, I assume there is also a fence and that fence surrounds an area. If you are inside this area your are behind the gate, thus being outside the area makes you in front of the gate.
